EMDA Education Series – Building the foundation for
Building the educational infrastructure to help EMDs, dealing
representatives and issuers succeed is a key priority for the
EMDA. We hear from our members across Canada that there are
few resources available to learn about the exempt market and
how to successfully operate as dealers and issuers in the unique
environment of the exempt market. Putting the resources of our
membership and our national Board of Directors we are beginning
to tackle this challenge. The EMDA is excited to be hosting six
educational events in November 2013 in locations across Canada.
Our successful EMDA CFO Education Series: Regulatory
Financial Reporting Certificate Program will be held for the
second year in the following cities:
Vancouver on November 20
Calgary on November 21
Toronto on November 27
And we are proud to help set the cornerstone for the
compliance program of EMDs with our launch of our inaugural
EMDA CCO Education Series: Ultimate Designated Person
and Chief Compliance Officers Certificate Program:
Calgary on November 4
Vancouver on November 5
Toronto on November 7

EMDA Annual General Meeting
The EMDA has been committed to strong governance
practices and transparency with our members since our founding.
We are excited to announce the 2013 EMDA Annual General
Meeting (AGM) of members to be held this year in November
in Toronto. Full details and AGM materials will be circulated to
EMDA members shortly.
For 2013, we are pleased to be making the transition to the
new corporate governance requirements under the recent Canada
Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, and we are doing so a full year
ahead of required timelines. Through monthly meetings of our
national Board of Directors we closely track finances, membership,
strategic priorities, key activities and our administrative and
operational issues. We are also going a step further than required
and have committed to audited financial statements to share
with our members, starting with our past fiscal year and moving
forward. We look forward to a renewed Board of Directors with
a number of leading voices joining from across Canada, a new
corporate By-law and governance structure, and continued
growth in our membership base, membership programs, industry
network and the resources that make our advocacy so effective.
As we continue to improve our Association, we are focussed on
service to members, effective advocacy and strong governance
representing our members.
Thank you for joining us for this latest edition of Exempt
Market Update – it’s another comprehensive edition because
depth and substance are what you continue to ask for, and
they are the hallmark of the Association you’ve asked us to be.
