Telling Our Story, our private capital markets story, has never been more imperative.
;e tsunami of global economic and political change has
shi;ed our already precarious position, but the good
news is that we are moving with it. Our culture has been
a key source of ongoing strength and stability during
these changing times. We worked together in each region
with deep member engagement on our
response letter to the CSA 33-404. ;roughout the process, the interest of the investor
was paramount. ;e response letter was
brilliantly written with a ;rm hand that fairly
and strongly represented the views of our
members from the regions, who desire a clear
and practical regulatory framework that
balances the interests of all stakeholders.
Protecting, our culture and industry is a
shared responsibility, and one that everyone
at PCMA takes seriously for the investor. ;is
responsibility starts at the top, with the Board of Direc-
tors and the Directors setting the tone, and extends to
every PCMA member. What better way to tell Our
Story, and share our private capital markets culture, than
with something tangible like this Magazine!
;e power of a magazine. ;e power of this Maga-
zine, the Private Capital Markets (PCM) Magazine. It’s
become a touchstone for all of us to share our knowledge,
our success, our challenges, our expertise and thus ful;ll-
ing our mandate of educate, advocate, connect and
elevate. We want you to be proud of your connection
with the PCMA and so we have launched with this
edition a bold, new, fresh and current look for Our Maga-
zine. And we wanted to make it personal.
Sel;es by their very nature are personal. ;eir content
usually says a lot about the people who work at the company. Look at our cover. It shows personality, humanity
and authenticity. And those are top traits that clients seek
when doing business in the exempt markets
world. Being human. It is much easier to
connect with a person than an abstract
concept. While it’s important to create a powerful emotional connection for anyone
considering the company’s product, it’s also
what connects us as an association.
It’s a great time to look back at this remarkable
year, full of great achievements. We are
immensely proud of the work that you, your
fellow members, new Chapter Leaders,
Directors and Members have demonstrated. Our Annual
Conference in spring of 2016 sold out, once again. It
delivered an ambitious agenda with great content, expert
panelists, exciting keynote speakers. Most importantly,
the conference delivered real value to our members. It was
also an awards year. We are the ;rst and only national
industry awards for Private Capital Markets Professionals.
;e Private Capital Markets Awards have become a coveted
mark of achievement and exceptionality in the private
capital markets cultural sphere. Congratulations go out
to all the winners and make sure you turn to the awards
section of the magazine for all the details.
